The conversion installs the patched gamescope on every NVIDIA PC and sets up the kernel parameters, suspend memory and 32-bit libraries on a supported card; it turns off an existing Gaming on NVIDIA.

The conversion also sets up what Gaming on NVIDIA did there (kernel parameters, early modules, suspend memory, 32-bit libraries). Gaming on NVIDIA is only offered on older NVIDIA cards, or while it is on.

The conversion is offered on supported NVIDIA cards again; it builds and installs steamify-gamescope-nvidia and sets gamescope_drm_gbm_scanout=1. It and Gaming on NVIDIA exclude each other.

gamescope's gaming mode shows a corrupted picture on NVIDIA (NVIDIA bug 5240452), also nested in KDE and in a KWin-only
session. With an NVIDIA GPU the conversion (gaming, boot, single, glyphs) is hidden unless already on, and nvidia takes its
place: Steam installed when missing and started at login on the Plasma desktop (user unit), with the sub-option bigpicture
for Big Picture or the normal window. The kernel parameters and early NVIDIA modules (RTX 20 series or newer) are kept as
part of it. tests/nvidia-test.sh covers the component and the menu rules against a fake GPU.
Found by running it in a VM: the appended += line became literal text on the
kernel command line, and a kernel without the modules made limine-mkinitcpio
skip its boot entry.
