The ISO is built from
ec174cc(master). It is about 3 GB, more than a GitHub release can hold (2 GB per file), so it is published on the mirror about 20 minutes after this release is created:Download: steamify-cachyos-2.9.6-260930-x86_64.iso (SHA-256, release page)
Steamify 2.9.6
- fix(ci): a dev ISO from a release branch is built with that branch's own Steamify (input steamify_ref of the ISO workflow), not the newest published release: release/2.9.6 kept producing 2.9.5 ISOs
- docs: changelog hashes for 2.9.6
9a2965dfix(ci): the ISO workflow always runs from master; main asks for a release ISO, a release branch for a dev ISO (inputkindof iso-1-github-tag.yml; feat/steamify is no longer needed)c42d545fix(ci): a version published from main starts a real ISO release, a release branch a dev ISO (it always started the dev one)b3bed43chore: Version 2.9.6
Changes in this ISO
The latest commits (there is no earlier real release to compare with):
- fix: sudo mkarchiso keeps STEAMIFY_ISO_VERSION and STEAMIFY_BUILD_STAMP (sudo dropped them: the ISO was named local, labelled LOCAL)
- fix: the ISO build reads no clock of its own: file name, label and boot menu come from the release tag only (GitHub's time); without a tag: local
- feat: the ISO's boot menu and /etc/steammachine-iso-build name its release tag too (were the build date): the tag decides everything
- feat: the ISO's file is named after its release tag (steamify-cachyos-2.9.3-dev.2026.09.29-2230-x86_64.iso), so the GitHub release links straight to the ISO and its SHA-256 on the mirror
- feat: the ISO's label follows the Steamify version on it and the build time (STEAMIFY_2_9_1_20260929_1432, was COS_); the release workflow names the same moment
- fix: steamify-install leaves /var/log mounted (the caller reads its log afterwards; unmounting it hid the log again)
- fix: steamify-install mounts the new system's /var/log (@log) first, so its logs aren't hidden under the mount after boot
- fix: the systemd-boot entry is made with efibootmgr from the live system (bootctl in the chroot wrote HD(0,GPT,0000...), which the firmware can't load)
- fix: systemd-boot gets its EFI boot entry (bootctl skips the EFI variables in the installer's chroot)
- feat: The installer only offers KDE Plasma, and the boot loaders Steamify supports (Limine, systemd-boot, GRUB; not rEFInd)
- fix: Only the installer says Steamify (CachyOS with Steamify Installer); the live session keeps CachyOS's own name
- fix: The live session's About this System keeps CachyOS's own name (no renaming)
